Biography

You could say that Kiernan Brennan Shipka walked into this world performing. With a passion and love for the arts like no other kid, this eleven-year-old actress, born on November 10, 1999 in Chicago, booked her first acting job when she was only five months old: A small role in NBC’s hit medical drama, “ER”. Since then, miss Shipka hasn’t stopped adding credits to her impressively long resume:

Over the years, Kiernan did a lot of commercials and, since she is also a fantastic model, several print ads. It was in 2006 when she started working on TV shows again. She had a regular role in “The Angriest Man in Suburbia” and guest starred in “Monk” twice. In 2007 she booked her very first film, “Dimension”, but, more importantly, she got the role that changed her life: Sally Draper in the award-winning television series, “Mad Men”. Kiernan walked into the audition thinking it was only a possible small recurring role, but she was wrong. Wise beyond her years, Kiernan is able to understand Sally’s complex storyline and play it perfectly. Matthew Weiner, the show’s creator, recognized this and promoted her to a series regular in season four.

In between seasons, when Kiernan is not filming “Mad Men”, she usually shoots other projects: She guest starred in the widely popular TV show “Heroes” and appeared in movies such as “Lower Learing” with Eva Longoria and Jason Biggs, “Land of the Lost” with Will Ferrell and Anna Friel, “Carriers” with Chris Pine and “Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore”, which was in 3D, with Chris O’Donnell. She is currently filming a Hallmark movie called “Smooch”.

With two SAG awards, six feature films, thirty-one commercials, several TV guest spots, over two hundred print ads under her belt and magazines such as ELLE and Entertainment Weekly calling her “one of the most promising child stars”, Kiernan is still a very down-to-earth girl and hasn’t let Hollywood get into her head. With a maturity and intelligence that can impress anyone, we are sure Kiernan will go very far with whatever she chooses to do in life.
